The undefeated Salty Dolls entered the grand finale as red hot favourites, and were the first to get points on the scoreboard, however it was the Road Train Rollers who took the early lead. Both teams’ jammers duked it out for lead and points, often neck-and-neck, but came afoul of strong, fast packs that tested the endurance and skill of all. By the time the half-time whistle blew the Salties had taken the lead but the Roadies were within striking distance. First half score: SD 126, RTR 105
The intensity didn’t let up in the second half, nor did the powerjams. They came thick and fast, sometimes switching several times in the same jam. Both teams had strong packs but it was the Salties’ that proved most devastatingly effective, allowing them to pull away on the scoreboard. The Roadies fought hard and narrowed the gap but time was not on their side and the Salties snatched the win. Final score: SD 237, RTR 205
