#TGSS2016 – skater run, skater owned

Did you know that Adelaide Roller Derby host the world’s largest roller derby tournament?

The Great Southern Slam, or TGSS as it is fondly known as across the globe, was birthed from an idea to bring leagues across Australia and New Zealand together under one roof, offering the opportunity to compete against one another; a chance that many rural and/or remote leagues did not receive.

The very first TGSS was held in 2010 and has since become a biennnal event that showcases the largest roller derby tournament in the world. It continues to grow each year. So we can only assume that the

This year’s tournament, held over three massive days during the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (11-13 June 2016), will see 45 leagues from across Australia and New Zealand will roll their way into Adelaide and compete in two divisions:

  • Saturday, Division 1 & 2 Tournaments
  • Sunday, Division 1 & 2 Tournaments and Quarter Finals
  • Monday, Division 1 & 2 Semi Finals and Grand Finals.

To see who Adelaide Roller Derby’s Travel Team, the Adeladies are playing, check out the TGSS tournament schedule and structure over on our TGSS website.

We welcome spectators with open arms! If you want the full three day experience, you can purchase a presale weekend pass from Oztix, $60 + booking fee. Alternatively, day passes can be purchased at the door; $20 for Saturday and Sunday and; $30 for the Finals on Monday.

We hope to see you there, cheering on Adelaide Roller Derby!
