Bootlegging refers to the making, transporting and/or selling of illegal alcoholic liquor or copyrighted material. The term originates from concealing hip flasks of alcohol in the legging of boots.
The bootlegger Filumena Losandro (‘Lily’) was the last woman in Canada ever hanged for murder. Controversy still surrounds her death. Did she shoot the Sheriff or was she really an innocent caught in tragic circumstances?

Theme Tune:

“Gin House Blues” by Nina Simone

Bio:

In the early days Bootlegger Lily made extra money by running rum to heavily taxed colonies on the Salty Doll’s ship “Nautical But Nice”. As the revenue cutters began to target pirates, Lily jumped ship in the Caribbean. From there she made her way inland to Mexico where she established an underground Mezcal distillery in Oaxaca. The dark, strong and smoky spirit allured many of her un-dead sisters and soon the clan of the Wild Hearses was formed.
Lily’s ambitious plan for 2010 is to revive the Bootlegging culture and bring her unique spirit to the world. To do this, she and the Wild Hearses will attempt to conquer and control the modern transport systems of today; targeting the aerial, nautical and land transport systems.

Motto:

“Para todo mal, mezcal y para todo bien también”
