Bout 9: Wild Hearses vs Road Train Rollers
First cabs off the rank were those giant killers, the Wild Hearses facing off again last year’s Grand Finalists the Road Train Rollers. The bout started with a flurry of Roadie points, and they were leading by 38 points at the end of six jams. Penalties and power jams a plenty had neither side taking the game by the throat. By the end of the first half, the Roadies continued to hold onto a lead of 26 points after a late Turbo The Rock Johnson power jam for the Hearses. Score at the half, Road Train Rollers 96 vs 60 Wild Hearses.
Those Wild Hearses hit the track hard after the halftime break and scored 25 points to the Roadies 2 points, and took the lead by jam 4. The Roadies replied with an unanswered 18 points of their own to take the lead back. The Hearses then slammed on 34 points and never looked back. Letta Loose and Kit Cat Krunch of the Road Train Rollers teamed up to bring the scores to within 19 points, but that was as close as Fury of Fenrir and the rest of the Hearses would let them get. The Hearses continued to add points, with the final score Wild Hearses 189 to the Road Train Rollers 143, securing the Hearses a place in the 2014 Grand Final.

Bout 10: Mile Die Club vs Salty Dolls
The second bout of the night saw old foes and the original teams of Adelaide Roller Derby take the track to keep their Grand Final hopes alive. Coming off their first win of the season, the Mile Die Club needed to keep winning to get to the big parade, while the Salty Dolls needed to get back their winning form after their first loss of the season showed a chink in their armour.
With much on the line, both teams started out calm and calculated, five minutes in and the score was sitting at a measly total, Mile Die 17 to the Salty Dolls 6. The differential stayed around the 10 point mark until those Dies of the Sky scored 27 points to 1 to develop a much needed buffer against the reigning champions. Lead jammer status was taken by jammers on both teams, but the Dies made better use of the advantage. At half time the scores were Salty Dolls 34 and Mile Die Club 88.
With fierce blocking coming out of the halftime break, the Dies were able to hold onto their lead and then slowly add to it. By the end of the bout, the Dies had held on to a comfortable victory of 86 points, Mile Die Club 194 vs 108 Salty Dolls.
With these results locked away, The Wild Hearses are headed into the Grand Final, but who will they play? The Mile Die Club must beat the Hearses next bout to have a chance, while a win to the Salty Dolls will ensure they can defend their title!
See you at the next double-header at Greyhound Park on the 27th of July to find out who will be playing!
