Second up in the double header were two teams that always bring their game face to the track against one another. Sitting third and fourth on the ladder, the Road Train Rollers played the Mile Die Club who were looking for their first win of the season. This victory was needed by both teams to stay in the race to play for the premiership trophy on Grand Final day.
The Mile Die Club started like a bat out of hell with HotXGuns taking lead jammer on multiple occasions, backed up by Dies veteran Bone Shaker. The Roadies are not ones to take it lying down, and started putting points on the board through their lead-taking jammer machine KillaKaze. The Dies continued to capture lead and at half time the score was Mile Die Club 112 vs 40 Road Train Rollers.
The two teams continued to trade blows, with the Roadies hitting harder after the break. With 17 minutes to go, the Roadies had closed the gap Mile Die Club 140 – 84 Road Train Rollers. This is where the leopard ladies needed to dig their claws in and hold on to their lead, but not if Kit Cat Krunch had anything to do with it! With the lead continuing to dwindle, you could feel the nerves of the crowd build as the Road Train Rollers kept chipping away at the Dies’ lead. With a little under two minutes remaining, the Roadies had reduced the lead to 53 points, and earned themselves a power jam with the skaters on track to nail it. The Dies then took a breath, reversed the power jam and took the victory!
