2011. A return to grassroots derby. Back to an era of gritty underground bouts with plenty of blood, sweat and tears. An era of crushing victories and devastating losses, dished up on a platter for our die-hard fans – the community that so faithfully rode the waves of excitement with us as we grew into the five awesome teams we are today. Our focus this year is on local bouts – no distractions, no excuses. Just the edge-of-your-seat excitement that you’ve come to expect from Adelaide Roller Derby, and it’s all for you.
Title holders the Road Train Rollers are keen to crank it up a gear and steamroll through the opposition. In their second year, the Wild Hearses want to swoop the competition with their legion of walking dead in tow. The Mile Die Club intends to dive-bomb from on high, taking every jammer with them. And whilst their nautical kisses may prove alluring, the Salty Dolls desire nothing more than a swift water burial for any wayward sailor. Keeping watch on the madness and mayhem is Ref Team Zebra, back with a full complement of peeled eyes to make sure all the sharpened toothbrushes and knuckle-dusters are left on the bench.
In 2011 we’ll skate the same track, we’ll pound the same concrete, and go for the big hits if the opportunity presents. We’ll wear our team colours with pride. 2011 – it’s all about you. When will you be getting your fix of ferocious ladies out for blood this year?
